The book, The Lemon Tree: An Arab, a Jew, and the Heart of the Middle East (2007), by Sandy Tolan, is a highly readable non-fiction narrative history of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. The narrative centers on two characters—one Palestinian, the other Jewish. You learn the history of the conflict through their respective stories and the unique relationship that develops between the two of them. It is an excellent read—both engaging and informative.
