The Chancel Choir is excited to announce the musical offering for our annual Choir Sunday. During our Sunday worship service on Sunday, May 18, we will present a series of sacred works by Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847), including his ravishing cantata Verleih uns Frieden—the only one of his eight chorale cantatas published during his lifetime—and his most famous psalm-cantata: Psalm 42 (Wie der Hirsch schreit nach frischem Wasser), written in 1837. His gorgeous, Romantic setting of this beloved psalm has become one of the most frequently performed, enduring works of the symphonic repertoire, and for good reason. The service will feature our choir, section leaders, and a seventeen-piece orchestra. This will be the second of our Liz Coggin Memorial series of musical offerings. You won't want to miss it!
